Overview
Auli is a Himalayan ski resort and hill station in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. It’s surrounded by coniferous and oak forests, plus the Nanda Devi and Nar Parvat mountains. A long cable car links Auli to the town of Joshimath. North of Auli are the colorful Badrinath Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site, and the Valley of Flowers National Park, with its alpine flora and wildlife like snow leopards and red foxes.
Auli is in Chamoli district in the Himalayan Mountains of Uttarakhand, India. Auli, also known as Auli Bugyal, in Garhwali, which means “meadow”, is located at an elevation of 2,800 metres (9,200 ft) above sea level.
Auli can be visited all through the year. The primary attraction for tourists in the place is snow skiing and the best time for it is from November to March. The months from May to November offer a cool and pleasant climate to the tourists.
Joshimath is the nearest town to Auli and is situated at a distance of 16 kms. UPRSTC buses are operated from this town frequently to the nearby places including Rishikesh (250 km), Haridwar (273 km) and Dehradun (293 km). There are good services of Buses and Cabs available.
