Overview

Ranikhet is a hill station in Uttarakhand State, northern India. It’s known for its views of the Himalayas. Hundreds of bells adorn Jhula Devi Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. Fruit trees grow on the terraced orchards of Chaubatia Gardens, with views of peaks including Nanda Devi.

Ranikhet carries centuries old imperial and colonial legacy and the beautiful garrison town is a land of Nature lovers from all over the country visit this beautiful place, famous for its natural beauty and apple orchards. Located at an altitude of 6,132 ft above sea level, Ranikhet is not only famous for its natural beauty but also for being home to the famous Jhula Devi Temple.

Built in 8th century, the temple dedicated to Goddess Durga is known for its cluster of elegantly designed bells. It is believed that the temple is wished fulfilling. The Ram temple located closes by also draws many people.

Sun Temple over 800 years old, and is one of the most ancient temples that can be found in Almora. It can be reached by a small yet exciting trekking route. The temple is surrounded by a total of 44 small shrines, and other than these, the ancient architectural patterns and exquisite stone carvings continue to attract tourists.

Ranikhet is home to numerous Sunset Points that offer magnanimous views of the snow covered Himalayas. The best ones among them are Machkhali (located near woodvilla point between Transit Camp and Ganiadeoli) and the one on the road from Jhoola Devi Temple to Bhargaon. The place is best visited between February and November to witness these breathtaking mountains and sunsets in all their glory.
